Gotta love Mom!

I've had several health concerns lately and I've been giving consideration to the vegetarian in me. I still have lots to learn, so if anyone has advice, I'm all ears. But in the meantime, I had to share this crazy story...
So I've had problems with milk forever. Doctors can't figure out if it's lactose or allergy related because I have too many other issues and frankly if it isn't killing me at this point, I'm pretty tolerant. My point is, this is far from a new thing.
Anyway, I'm at the grocery Saturday and I'm buying my first ever carton of soy milk. I've gotta tell you, this is quite intimidating. But, I got the vanilla because it seemed like it would go in my coffee better (and you know I like coffee with my milk and sugar). But anyway I get it home and not only do I love it, but I can eat whole bowls of cereal early in the morning and not be sick! This is so awesome. I called Mom last night and was telling her all about this and she says 'yeah, you had soy milk when you were a baby... you couldn't have regular milk.' She went on to tell me that I got violently ill on regular formula and the doctor switched me to soy. Somewhere in the mix, my family just assumed I got over it and went on to fussing at me to "finish your milk!"
Meanwhile, I'm sitting on this end of the phone simply stunned. I finally have to ask 'Mom, with all the problems I've had, do you think you might have mentioned this to me at some point in the past twenty-some years?!!?'
While I've not had a 'violent' reaction to milk lately, I have stopped eating breakfast over the years because I often get sick from it - but now that I think about it my breakfasts most often included things like cereal, oatmeal (with cream), etc.... hmmmmm. (okay, so we never said I was among the brightest)
Now I'm just wondering what else she thought I'd outgrow...
